For more than 160 years, the Wallenberg family has worked in a long-term and committed manner in the service of enterprise and research in Sweden and internationally. Today, members of the fifth generation are leading the family’s activities.

The Wallenberg ecosystem includes 16 non-profit foundations – the Wallenberg Foundations, the public industrial holding company Investor AB, the private holding company Wallenberg Investments AB including FAM AB and Navigare Ventures AB and their respective holdings. Dividends from holdings are utilized for research and education grants that strengthen Sweden over time.

The Wallenberg Foundations

 

The Wallenberg Foundations is the collective name for the public and private foundations established and funded with donations that individual members of the Wallenberg family have either given or raised in honor or memory of family members.

The Foundations grant funding to excellent researchers, research projects and education beneficial to Sweden. Grants have totaled over SEK 44 billion since the founding in 1917, of which SEK 11.4 billion the past five years. In 2023 SEK 2.7 billion were granted.

The Wallenberg Foundations focus mainly on basic research in medicine, technology, and the natural sciences, but they also support research related to the social sciences and the humanities.

To ensure that their assets are managed in a professional manner, the Foundations have assigned this management task to the wholly-owned company Wallenberg Investments AB.
